New maritime exhibition

Recall the history of Trondheim as a maritime city, through a series of themed exhibition galleries. The exhibition on the ground floor focuses on steamships from the Trondheim area. This exhibition opened in the summer of 2006. On July 1st 2009 we are opening a new exhibition on the first floor dealing with the sail ship-period where we show the importance of this era for the town of Trondheim. The exhibition includes a number of sail ship models, and we will present the history of navigation and trade across the Oceans. Children can learn about the maritime history of Trondheim visiting a brand new hands-on exhibition representing a ship named Tordenskjold.

Adults and children can learn and explore together, and at the end of their stay, all children can receive a diploma. We have also developed an educational program in a hands-on environment. The program lasts for approximately 1, 5 hours with exercises and education. At the end of their visit the children receive a diploma that declares them as able seamen.

We also have a library of maritime books available for research.
